Match.com enlists Mensa to pair up geniuses

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that being smart is sexy. But, like the teenager who first discovers love and soon believes he invented the feeling, Match.com is declaring once and for all that “smart is the new sexy.” This groundbreaking revelation has led the online dating service to partner with high-IQ society Mensa to help pair up smart singles.
Match users will now be able to add a Mensa badge to their profile to signal their preference for intelligent dates. And as a promotion, any user will also be able to take the Mensa test for $ 1 until July 6.
“People everywhere gravitate to smart lovers, because an intelligent partner comes with a host of sexy perks,” said Match.com’s chief scientific adviser Dr. Helen Fisher. If having to wade through fewer messages from people wondering “what your up to” tonight is considered a “sexy perk,” then perhaps this isn’t a terrible idea after all.

Taking a cue from incredibly niche dating sites like Gluten-Free Singles and Daily Diapers, Match.com has partnered with U.S. Mensa to ensure the most intelligent people in the country don’t have to waste their lives dating dum-dums.
The pairing consists of a few initiatives. For regular Match.com members, a new Mensa “badge” will be available in case they want to “express their interest in the High IQ organization,” a release says.
